Waterview Recreation Center

Intro
Managing stormwater at Waterview Recreation Center will help to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff that enters into Philadelphia's combined sewer system leading to healthier streams. The trees and planter boxers installed will also provide an aesthetically pleasing view for residents.
Project Description

The Office of Watersheds is working with the Philadelphia Department of Recreation (PDR) and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to incorporate stormwater management into Waterview Recreation Center’s master plan in ways that can demonstrate effective stormwater management strategies while enhancing recreation programs and improving site aesthetics. A subsurface infiltration tree trench and new porous concrete sidewalk manage street and sidewalk runoff and provide more tree canopy. Flow through planter boxes adjacent to the main building entrance manage roof runoff and beautify the entrance.
