Rivers Conservation Plan

The Tacony/Frankford Creek Rivers Conservation Plan (RCP) was funded by a grant from DCNR and completed in 2004. Based on information collected from a diverse array of stakeholders, the plan presents a number of ways to improve not only the creek, but quality of life for residents as well. Note that this plan covers the City of Philadelphia only; see the Tookany Watershed Management Plan below for a similar plan developed for Tookany Creek.

Comprehensive Characterization Report

Completed in 2005, The Comprehensive Characterization Report (CCR) for Tookany-Tacony/Frankford Watershed contains detailed technical information about land use, geology, soils, topography, demographics, meteorology, hydrology, water quality, ecology, fluvial geomorphology, and pollutant loads in the watershed.

Integrated Watershed Management Plan

An Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP) was completed for Tookany-Tacony/Frankford Watershed in 2005 to outline the characteristics and problems within the watershed – utilizing supporting technical data – and define improvement strategies for implementation.

Tookany Creek Watershed Management Plan

The Tookany Creek Watershed Management Plan was funded by a grant from DCNR and completed in 2003, applying to the Tookany Creek outside the City of Philadelphia. Based on information collected from a diverse array of stakeholders, the plan presents a number of ways to improve not only the creek, but quality of life for residents as well.

Act 167 Plan

The Tookany-Tacony/Frankford Act 167 Plan was completed in 2008 under the leadership of Montgomery County and the Philadelphia Water Department. Under requirements of the Pennsylvania Stormwater Management Act of 1978, the main objective of this plan is to control stormwater runoff on a watershed-wide basis.
