You're Invited: Greening Philadelphia's Schoolyards

Philadelphia is exploring ways in which we can transform our city's impermeable, blacktop urban schoolyards into greener, more sustainable spaces. Join us on Thursday, May 10 from 4-6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture (1218 Arch Street) for a free, open-to-the-public presentation of design ideas for two of Philadelphia's public schoolyards: John B. Kelly Elementary in Germantown and Henry C. Lea Elementary in West Philadelphia. These designs—generated by a daylong charrette hosted by the Community Design Collaborative, AIA Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Water Department and the U.S. EPA—will serve as models for greening other schoolyards throughout the city in the years to come.
