Poquessing Watershed Partnership

The Poquessing Watershed Partnership is a network of public, private, and nonprofit partners working to create and implement a watershed management plan that addresses water quality and quantity issues. These stewards are taking on stormwater management projects, municipal ordinance revisions, and public education and outreach events.

Friends of Poquessing Watershed

The Friends of Poquessing Watershed is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, environmental group dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the Poquessing Watershed. Residents of Philadelphia and Bucks County can get involved with a variety of Friends-sponsored projects, including cleanups, walks and tours, educational presentations, water quality testing, and more!

Parkwood Civic Association Website

The Parkwood Civic Association conducts clean-ups of neighborhoods and open spaces. Join them at one of their monthly meetings to find out how and where you can help out with neighborhood improvements. Other civic associations of the Poquessing that you can explore include Somerton, Walton, Normandy, and West Torresdale.

Fairmount Park Commission Website

Fairmount Park Commission has identified up to 20 proposed and active stewardship projects along the Poquessing Creek. Overall, projects have focused on removal of invasive plants, planting native vegetation, and clean-ups. The Commission is also designing a Master Plan for the City, which includes the development of a network of trail and street connections across the Poquessing Watershed as funding becomes available. Check in with Fairmount Park regarding the status of trail development activity and event participation opportunities in your area.

Bensalem Township

In coordination with the City of Philadelphia and the Fairmount Park Commission, Bensalem Township has the goal of implementing a system of trails along waterways within the township and is acquiring land and easements along the Poquessing Creek. Contact the Township to learn more about what you can do to promote trail development.
